Law Firm Management Software Pricing Compared: What I Verified in October 2026

The law firm management software I checked on October 20, 2026 starts at $49 to $50 per user per month: Clio from $49, MyCase from $50 and PracticePanther and CosmoLex from $49, the last three billed annually. Smokeball, Filevine and Actionstep don't publish prices, so you have to contact sales.

I took every figure from each vendor's own pricing page or official help center. I haven't tested these tools, and I don't rate or rank them. You can read how I check prices, or compare every vendor in the full law firm software price table.

Which vendors publish prices and which are contact sales

MyCase and PracticePanther publish annual and monthly prices for each plan. CosmoLex publishes annual plan prices; its page says "Save $120 per user with yearly", but I couldn't capture its monthly prices, so I left them blank. Clio publishes only "Starting at $49/user" and asks you to get pricing or book a demo for each plan. Smokeball, Filevine and Actionstep publish no prices at all.

Plan-by-plan pricing

Clio

Clio has four plans: Starter, Core, Signature and Elite. The page publishes one price, from $49 per user per month, and labels Elite "Save over 17%" without a figure to compare. AI is included on Core and above, not sold as a separate add-on. Accounting, including trust account management, is on every plan. There's a free trial, with no length given.

MyCase

Basic is $50 per user per month billed annually or $60 monthly, Pro is $100 or $120, and Advanced is $130 or $150. MyCase Accounting is a $39 per user per month add-on for Pro and Advanced. Basic covers case management, time and billing, and trust accounting. The free trial is 10 days with no credit card.

PracticePanther

Solo is $49 per user per month billed annually or $59 monthly, Essential is $69 or $79, Business is $89 annually, and Business Pro is $114 or $124. I couldn't capture the Business monthly price. Business Pro adds PantherAccounting Plus for trust and operating accounting. The page says annual billing saves $120 per user per year. The free trial is 7 days with no credit card.

CosmoLex

Launch is $49, Core $99 and Pro $129 per user per month, billed yearly. Trust accounting, LEDES and a general ledger are built in. A CRM add-on costs $147 a month billed yearly or $177 monthly, for up to 3 users. There's a free trial, with no length given.

Smokeball, Filevine and Actionstep

Smokeball lists four plans (Bill, Boost, Grow and Prosper+), each marked "Get pricing", and says price depends on users, plan, contract term and add-ons. Filevine says "All packages are custom built" and offers a free trial of LOIS Explore, its AI tool, which doesn't include case management. Actionstep says "Request Pricing" and prices per user plus implementation fees.

Hidden costs: add-ons, payment fees, onboarding and contracts

The subscription price isn't always the whole bill. Clio charges 2.95% on card payments (3.75% for Amex), 1% for eCheck or ACH and 4.95% for Affirm, on every plan. Its add-ons, such as Grow and Personal Injury, are contact sales. MyCase Accounting adds $39 per user per month. CosmoLex's CRM add-on is $147 a month billed yearly. Actionstep adds implementation fees to its per-user price.

On contracts, Clio lets you cancel at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current monthly or annual term, and you can export your data for up to 90 days after. MyCase has no setup fee and no long-term contract, but if you cancel, your plan stays active until the end of the term, with no refunds.

Law firm software for billing and intake

Practice management is only one part of the law firm software stack. I also track billing and time tools (LeanLaw, TimeSolv and Bill4Time) and intake software (Lawmatics). Their prices, trials and trust accounting are in the homepage table, so you can compare every vendor in the full law firm software price table.

How I'd narrow it down for a small firm

I'd start with what you need to know before a call. If you want a price up front, MyCase, PracticePanther and CosmoLex publish theirs, and Clio gives a starting figure. If you hold client funds, check the trust accounting table and the plan it needs. A solo can stay on an entry plan, while a growing team should price the plan that covers trust accounting and payments for every user. Then confirm everything on the vendor's page.
