Billing Software for Law Firms: Per-User Prices and Trust Accounting (Checked October 2026)

Quick Answer

When I checked billing software for law firms on October 20, 2026, the lowest published price was Bill4Time Time & Billing at $39 per user per month, billed annually. For trust accounting, LeanLaw Core is $55 per user per month, Bill4Time Legal Pro $59 and CosmoLex Launch $49, both billed annually. Smokeball is contact sales.

I took every figure from each vendor's own pricing page. I haven't tested these tools, I don't rate or rank them, and I don't use third-party prices. You can read how I check prices, see law firm management software prices compared, what each Clio plan includes and which legal AI tools publish a price, or compare every vendor in the full law firm software price table.

I don't use affiliate links on this site. I may earn a commission if I add affiliate links later; it never changes what I list or the prices shown.

Prices and plan details checked on October 20, 2026 on each vendor's own site. Prices, plans and features are subject to change; check the vendor's page before you buy. Prices are USD per user per month. A blank cell means I couldn't verify that figure on the vendor's official page; it doesn't mean the tool lacks it.

Which billing tools include trust accounting?

If you hold client funds, trust (IOLTA) accounting matters as much as the price. Here's where each vendor's pricing page lists trust accounting in its law firm accounting software. This isn't legal or accounting advice; check your state bar's trust account rules.

What do standalone billing and law firm timekeeping tools cost?

LeanLaw

Core is $55 per user per month and Pro is $75; Custom is "Get Pricing". LeanLaw's plan cards don't say whether those prices are billed monthly or annually. Its FAQ says annual billing is available, lowers the effective monthly cost, and is priced by the sales team. Every plan runs on QuickBooks Online with trust accounting included. A one-time onboarding fee "may apply depending on your plan and firm size", with no amount given. There's a free trial.

TimeSolv

TimeSolv publishes only that it "starts at $49 per user per month". Its plan tiers load by script and I couldn't capture them. It offers a free trial with no payment info, and volume discounts. Add-ons: CRM at $147 a month billed annually or $177 month-to-month, for up to 3 users, and a website at $149 a month annually or $159 monthly.

Bill4Time

Bill4Time has four plans (see the table). Legal Pro adds trust accounting and LEDES billing. The free trial is 14 days with no card, and the page says yearly billing saves "up to 25%".

Which practice management software has built-in billing and trust accounting?

Several practice management suites include billing and trust accounting in the plan. For their full plan prices, see law firm management software prices compared. Their AI features are covered in which legal AI tools publish a price.

CosmoLex

Launch is $49, Core $99 and Pro $129 per user per month, billed yearly. I couldn't capture monthly prices. Trust accounting, LEDES and a general ledger are built in. A CRM add-on is $147 a month billed yearly or $177 monthly, for up to 3 users. There's a free trial.

Clio

Clio includes trust account management, trust account reporting and trust and operating reconciliation on all four plans. Trust balance notifications and QuickBooks, Xero and TrustBooks integrations are on Core and up. Clio publishes only "Starting at $49/user"; Core, Signature and Elite say "Get pricing". Card payments cost 2.95% (3.75% for Amex) and eCheck or ACH 1%. See what each Clio plan includes.

MyCase

MyCase includes trust accounting from Basic, at $50 per user per month billed annually or $60 monthly. The MyCase Accounting add-on is $39 per user per month on Pro and Advanced. LawPay payments have no monthly fee, and split billing is on Advanced. The free trial is 10 days.

PracticePanther

Solo is $49 per user per month billed annually or $59 monthly, Essential $69 or $79, Business $89 annually, and Business Pro $114 or $124. Business includes LEDES. Business Pro adds PantherAccounting Plus for trust and operating accounting. The free trial is 7 days.

Smokeball

Smokeball's plans start with Bill, then Boost, Grow and Prosper+. Every plan says "Get pricing", so you contact sales.

What should you check before you buy?

Is trust accounting in the plan you're pricing, or an add-on? Does it sync with QuickBooks, and on which plan? Is there an onboarding fee? Is the price you're quoted annual or monthly? How long is the free trial, and does it need a card? Each vendor's page answers some of these, and the tables above show which.

What did I leave out, and why?

Rocket Matter is out of the comparison because its pricing page shows conflicting starting prices (see the FAQ below). I couldn't verify Centerbase or Zola (CARET Legal). TimeSolv's per-plan prices weren't captured, so only its starting price appears.

FAQ

How much does billing software for a law firm cost?

Among the tools I checked, published prices run from $39 per user per month (Bill4Time Time & Billing, billed annually) to $150 per user per month (MyCase Advanced, billed monthly). Clio's Core, Signature and Elite say "Get pricing", and LeanLaw Custom and every Smokeball plan are contact sales.

Which law firm billing software includes trust accounting?

LeanLaw includes trust accounting, and Bill4Time adds it on Legal Pro. CosmoLex has it built in. Clio and MyCase include it on every plan, and PracticePanther adds it on Business Pro through PantherAccounting Plus. I couldn't confirm it on the TimeSolv or Smokeball pricing pages, which doesn't mean they lack it.

What is the cheapest law firm timekeeping software?

Of the tools I checked, the lowest published price is Bill4Time Time & Billing at $39 per user per month billed annually, or $49 billed monthly. TimeSolv and Clio start from $49 per user per month without saying the billing period. I only compare published prices; I don't rank the tools.

Does LeanLaw work with QuickBooks?

Yes. LeanLaw's pricing page says every plan runs natively on QuickBooks Online with trust accounting included, and Core lists two-way QuickBooks Online sync. A one-time onboarding fee "may apply depending on your plan and firm size"; the page gives no amount, so ask LeanLaw before you sign.

How much does TimeSolv cost?

TimeSolv's pricing page publishes one figure: it "starts at $49 per user per month". Its per-plan prices load by script and I couldn't capture them, so I don't list them. TimeSolv offers a free trial with no payment info, and its page says volume discounts are available.

Is law firm accounting software included in Clio?

Yes. Clio's FAQ says accounting is included on every plan, from Starter up, including trust account management, reporting and trust and operating reconciliation. Trust balance notifications and QuickBooks, Xero and TrustBooks integrations are on Core and up. Clio publishes only "Starting at $49/user"; higher plans say "Get pricing".

How much does Rocket Matter cost?

I can't give a reliable price. Rocket Matter's own site lists conflicting starting prices, because its FAQ and its plan table don't match, so I left it out of this comparison until they agree. Check rocketmatter.com for a current quote, and confirm what's included before you sign.
